Tawny Frogmouths

They just make me happy :)

Just sharing some bird photos from our local park.

We walk our dogs around it twice a day almost every day and from August to November, have a pair of Tawny Frogmouths nest in the same spot every year.

They look like owls but apparently are not - I am not a bird expert so I just like seeing them on my walk!

They are hard to spot and I am not sure whether this photo is of the hatched youngster or the parent - told you I am not an expert haha. It looks a lot smaller than the mum so I am guessing it is the youngster and that the parent has gone to stretch their wings after 2-3 months of sitting….

There is another pair at the other end of the park that, to our knowledge, have not built nests and procreated (yet?). Maybe they are still young ….

I also captured this kookaburra - I love hearing them laugh at sunup and sundown - a sort of bookmark to each end of the day 💕
